p0sixspwn has been updated to 1.0.8.Apple Insider

The p0sixspwn standalone untethered jailbreak tool has been updated to v1.0.8 for both Mac and Windows.

The announcement comes from the developer of the jailbreak tool, Steven De Franco commonly known as iH8sn0w, who confirmed on Twitter that the standalone p0sixspwn has been updated to the latest version, which brings fixes for iTunes 11.1+ crashes, with a tweet that reads, “Updated standalone p0sixspwn to v1.0. Supports 3GS+ipt4 on iOS 6.1.6. Fixes iTunes 11.1+crashes.”

It is possible to perform an untethered jailbreak on iOS 6.1.6, which is a lengthy method. The process involves a tethered jailbreak using Redsn0w and then converting the tethered jailbreak into an untethered version using p0sixspwn tool, available on Cydia, notes iPhone Hacks.

Those who wish to do a tethered jailbreak on iOS 6.1.6 using Redsn0w then into an untethered jailbreak using p0sixspwn, may follow our step-by-step guide here.

Earlier in February, along with iOS 7.0.6, Apple released iOS 6.1.6 with build number 10B500 for iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4G with a fix for SSL connection verification issue.

P0sixspwn 1.0.8 should make it easier for the users to perform an untethered jailbreak on devices powered by iOS 6.1.6. The release note also suggests that v1.0.8 fixes iTunes 11.1 and crashes.

Note that the p0sixspwn untethered jailbreak tool supports devices such as iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch 4G, iPod touch 5G, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4 and iPad Mini running iOS 6.1.3–iOS 6.1.6. Below are the download links to p0sixspwn v1.0.8 for Mac and windows.

Jailbreak 7.1.2 iOS Untethered on iPhone 4 with Tutorial

Crashed: iPhone 5S phones have had problems

Apple iPhone users in uproar after iOS 7.1.2 update causes crashes and data loss

Apple users have been bombarding support forums with complaints saying iOS 7.1.2 has caused crashes and data loss.

The software update has ‘bricked’ or locked out people’s phones and they have gone into a frenzy on forums like Apple Support.

The update affected owners of the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S.

Many say they had to resort to a complete system restore, meaning they lost data including contacts and treasured pictures.

When updating an iOS device there are two options OTA – over the air (using Wi-Fi) or via iTunes.

When using OTA, the phone has to be plugged into a charger.

Before any update, Apple advises users to backup their devices to iCloud or iTunes.

The majority of users said they encountered problems when doing “over the air” updates.

One user posted: “IOS:7.1.2 bricked my iPhone 4s. It only shows the ‘connect to iTunes” prompt and when I do it says “iPhone update server could not be contacted”.”

Another posted: “Just tried to do the iOS 7.1.2 upgrade and it has bricked my iPhone 5S.  I cannot get it to switch back on and it is not recognised on my computer with iTunes. Any help please?”

One frustrated user accused Apple of not testing the software properly: “I have a bricked phone after updating to 7.1.2. The phone is in restore mode and it doesn’t seem to do anything else. I turned it off/on and the “connect to itunes logo” appears again.

“It is frustrating  to download a small update and get your phone bricked. Any idea how to fix this without restoring from scratch? Shame on you Apple, TEST YOUR SOFTWARE BEFORE ISSUING AN UPDATE.”

Apple iOS 7.1.1 is compatible with all devices running iOS 7.1, including the iPhone 4, 4S, 5, 5C and 5S, the iPad Air, iPad 2, 3, 4, iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display and the latest iPod Touch. You can still Jailbreak your devices  on  iOS 7.1.2 visit jailbreak page for Windows and Mac
